I wish to paint a positive ontology of the ocean and to foster an openness to the possibility of conscious experience in other areas of life. These ideas are explored in The Heart of the Ocean (2021). I work directly with water, using the material to create an immediacy and proximity in my work.

I left room for the water to transform undisturbed. As such, though the piece was created via my own agency, the dialogue between the two materials left me very much aware of agency outside the human realm, i.e. water's agency.
